Data Selectors
Learn how to use FirstHive CDP data selector tools to make the most of your analytics. In the guides below, you will learn about the website selector, date selector (calendar), period comparisons tool, segment selector, and more.
The grey section just below the top menu contains your data selectors – these grey buttons are one of the most important parts of the FirstHive CDP interface for exploring your data. The selectors allow you to narrow down exactly where the data is pulled from for any section of the FirstHive CDP dashboard.
Search Box
At the left, you’ll find the search bar. This is especially powerful in FirstHive CDP, helping you find specific reports within the analytics dashboard or user guides from the official documentation. If you know which report or metric you need but not where to find it, this is the place to go.
Shortcut: Press f (for find) to focus the search box from anywhere.
Website Selector
FirstHive CDP lets you manage analytics for multiple websites or digital properties within a single account. Selecting the correct dataset is crucial. The first button in the data selector section allows you to do this.
The button label shows the currently selected website. Clicking it opens a menu with all digital properties you have access to.
Shortcut: Press w (for websites) to bring up the menu.
Click the website you want to work with, and the page will refresh with relevant analytics data. You can also access an All Websites dashboard.
Date Selector
Analytics questions often depend on the relevant time period. The Date Selector is the second button, shown with a calendar icon. The label displays the currently selected date range.
Click the Date Selector to open the calendar and period options. You can select both the date and the period for analysis.
Shortcut: Press d (for date) to open the date selector from anywhere.
Steps:
- Choose a reporting period from the bullet options.
- Select a specific date range from the calendar.
- Use the month and year drop-downs to navigate time frames.
- Click Apply to reload the page with the selected data.
Period Comparisons
The Date Selector also allows you to compare data from different periods. Enable this feature by clicking Compare to: and selecting a range:
- Previous period: Compares your selected period to the directly preceding one (day, month, etc.). Useful for short-term trends.
- Previous year: Compares your selected period to the same period in the prior year, ideal for seasonal businesses.
- Custom: Define any reporting period, useful for irregular marketing campaigns.
Segment Selector
The final data selector allows reviewing a segment of your data. By default, it’s set to All Visits. Any additional segments available will appear in the dropdown.
Shortcut: Press s (for segments) to open the segment menu.
Dashboard Menu
The Dashboard Menu button, shown only within the Dashboard section, allows you to manage the reports shown in your customizable dashboards. By default, one dashboard is available, simply called Dashboard.
Zen Mode
The last icon in this section (two upward-facing arrows) activates Zen Mode, hiding both the top menu and main navigation. This gives you more space to focus on data.
Shortcut: Press z (for zen) on your keyboard.
