Row Evolution
The powerful Row Evolution feature in FirstHive CDP shows a chronologically ordered line chart of your analytics metrics for any row in any report. You can view how metrics for visits using Firefox, visits that came from Google, or almost any other dimension change over time. This enables you to quickly identify recurring patterns, such as higher traffic on weekdays, while also getting a sense of the overall trend of a metric across different periods.
Additionally, you can compare these trends with other rows to gain even deeper insights—for example, comparing the usage of two different keywords over time. This helps you understand how metrics might impact each other and supports drawing actionable conclusions from your analytics.
At its core, evolution graphs show trend lines for your metrics over time. You can check which metrics are being shown in the graph via the labels positioned at the top left of the chart. If multiple metrics are displayed, each label is color-coordinated with its corresponding line in the chart.
The x-axis (horizontal line and labels at the bottom) represents the time period that the graph is focused on. Below this, you may see annotation icons if you use the annotations feature.
The y-axis (vertical line and labels on the left) represents the value of the primary plotted metric. If you compare more than one type of metric—for example, visit count against a percentage, or pageview count against loading times—the additional metric labels are shown on the opposite side.
For example, a graph may show Pageviews on the left y-axis and Average Generation Time on the right y-axis. Numeric counts like Pageviews or Unique Pageviews are referenced against the left-hand side, while metrics measured in seconds, such as Avg. Generation Time, are referenced against the right-hand side.
For more detail on a specific plot point, hover your mouse over the circles on the trend line to reveal precise values, such as the exact conversion value on that specific date.
